Preferred: Experience in teaching elementary band and instrumental music.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in curriculum and instruction tailored to music education, possess the ability to establish strong connections with students and families, collaborate effectively within a team, excel in classroom management with small and large student groups, and possess a passion for music and joy of teaching. Responsibilities include working across multiple elementary school buildings, teaching instrumental music lessons to small groups and ensembles, leading and directing elementary bands, creating lesson schedules in collaboration with classroom teachers and administrators, organizing school music events and concerts, and collaborating with fine arts colleagues across the district. Exceptional interpersonal skills, professionalism, integrity, flexibility, creativity and a sense of humor are essential.
Bachelor's Degree and Connecticut certification (including K-5) are mandatory. Salary details are available in the Teachers Union Contract on our website: www.plainvilleschools.org.
