Job Description:

The Palisades School District invites applications for the position of 0.70 FTE, contracted, Reading Specialist at Tinicum Elementary School.

The qualified applicants must have a current PA certification in Elementary Education K-6 or PK-4 and be certified as a Reading Specialist. The candidate must have a strong understanding of best practices and instructional techniques for elementary-aged students, specific to the teaching and learning process of learning to read and all of the components that constitute a structured literacy approach.

Responsibilities include working with students in both the regular education classroom, as well as working with small groups for targeted instruction across various environments, including the reading room. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a child-centered approach to teaching and learning, a commitment to fostering a positive and safe classroom environment, and have a working knowledge of social and emotional learning strategies and best practices. Additionally, the successful candidate should be adept at understanding how to utilize data to inform instruction and be able to work with colleagues to identify areas of need in reading and creating plans to support student growth.
