Salary Range: $85,000 - $101,000

Overview:

Seeking innovative, creative Physics teacher who wants to work with a dynamic team on a bold new initiative that provides post secondary and work based learning experiences for high school students. The position enables the teacher/professor to make connections between the concepts of physics and its real world application in the manufacturing and engineering work environment. The incumbent would provide exceptional instruction to high school students in Northwest CT. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of physics, the ability to engage students, and the flexibility to teach at various sites.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to make a meaningful impact on students' academic success and foster a lifelong appreciation for the wonders of physics.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans aligned with the curriculum standards for physics.

  • Conduct engaging and interactive classroom sessions to facilitate student learning and comprehension.

  • Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, demonstrations, hands-on experiments, and multimedia presentations.

  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.

  • Assess student progress through regular quizzes, tests, and assignments, providing constructive feedback to promote academic growth.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and innovative teaching strategies.

  • Collaborate with support service educators to provide assistance to students with special programming needs, ensuring the effective implementation of IEPs and Section 504 accommodations/modifications.

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic performance.

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administrators regarding curriculum updates, student progress, and any concerns.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and remain current regarding advancements in physics education.

  • Willingness to deliver instruction and ensure consistency in teaching quality across regional sites.

  • Maintain confidentiality concerning personnel, student, and operational issues of the district.

Qualifications:

  • Connecticut 032 - Physics Certification preferred but will consider candidates who will qualify for a Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP) and/or candidates with experience and qualifications to teach at the post secondary level.

  • Previous experience teaching physics at the high school or college level is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of physics principles and their application in real-world contexts.

  • ·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with diverse student populations.

  • ·Demonstrated proficiency in lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment strategies.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to work effectively in different educational settings.

  • Basic proficiency in computer skills, encompassing Microsoft Office suite and Google Workspace applications.

  • Must be highly organized and have excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Commitment to promoting a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.

  • Willingness to travel as needed for teaching assignments.

  • Passion for teaching and a genuine desire to spark students' curiosity and enthusiasm for physics.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Ability to transport self to sites
