Downingtown Area School District is excited to announce an elementary Math Specialist opening for the 2024-2025 school year. The position assignments are split between elementary buildings, and will be determined at a later date.
Qualifications:
Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited college or university and hold a proper Pennsylvania certification for the position
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Math preferred
Valid PA certification specific to content area: Pre-K to 6 and 4-8 certificates require a content area emphasis; the content area emphasis should be in the area of Math
Ability to effectively present information to adult learners, including teachers and parent
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret curriculum guidelines, periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and lesson plans
Ability to respond appropriately to questions from students, parents, and all level of administrative staff
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate proficiency in 21st Century technology applications, including but not limited to iPad, SmartBoard, and Microsoft Office
Possesses effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with teachers, administrators, parents, students, and outside organizations
Exhibits excellent classroom management skills
Demonstrates effective communication skills to provide accurate information to others and to obtain, give, and follow directions
Demonstrates ability to provide good judgment, planning, and human relations skills, as well as be required to work under periods of stress due to the level of the position responsibility
To follow the standard of member conduct as stated in the PA Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators
Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements

Full salary matrix is available in the appendix of the following collective bargaining agreement, which can be accessed by clicking here. Placement upon salary scale is dependent upon education and years of teaching service.
Schedule:
7.5 hours per day based upon district-approved calendar
Up to 191 days per year, plus up to 3 days of orientation for professional employees during first year of employment
