Job Description:

Overview:

Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Reading Specialist to support literacy development for students in grades 9-12. The Reading Specialist will be enthusiastic about making a positive impact in urban communities, work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families to assess student needs, design interventions, and foster a culture of literacy across the school community.

Key Responsibilities:

Literacy Assessment:

• Conduct comprehensive literacy assessments to identify students' strengths, weaknesses, and instructional needs

• Analyze assessment data to inform instructional planning and intervention strategies

Individualized Intervention:

• Develop and implement targeted, evidence-based interventions to support students' reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary development

• Provide specialized instruction for students with dyslexia or other reading difficulties

Collaboration and Consultation:

• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other specialists to support a cohesive and comprehensive approach to literacy instruction

• Consult with teachers and families to develop appropriate accommodations and strategies for struggling readers

Data Analysis:

• Analyze student data to monitor progress and adjust intervention strategies as needed

• Communicate assessment results and progress monitoring data to teachers, administrators, and families

Parent and Community Engagement:

• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and literacy goals

• Provide resources and workshops to support families in promoting literacy at home

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Reading Education, Literacy, or a related field

• Pennsylvania Reading Specialist certification

• Previous experience as a Reading Specialist or in a similar role

• Strong knowledge of literacy assessments, intervention strategies, and best practices in reading instruction

• Clearances: FBI fingerprints, PA state background check, child abuse history clearance, and a physical examination
