Middle School ELA Teacher

Seeking teachers who desire to bring the light of Christ to St Louis' under resourced children and families. We seek to provide quality Christian education to those who otherwise could not afford it. We are a private, Christian, elementary school (Pre-Kindergarten - 8th Grade) located in University City.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / Duties include but are not limited to:

• Demonstrate mastery of ELA subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials

• Create lesson plans, aligned with grade standards, which drive instruction through formative assessment and differentiation

• Maintain a system for timely objective assessment

• Maintain a safe, organized classroom which supports students' independent learning and collaboration

• Effectively engage restorative disciplinary practices.

• Provide consistent, timely feedback to student learning and send weekly information to parents to keep them informed of learning

• Monitor and maintain a positive classroom environment that supports the school-wide behavior expectations.

• Use computers, projectors/smart boards and other technology to enhance the students' learning experiences.

• Willing to participate in staff meetings and extra-curricular/school related activities

• Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional growth and works well with administrators & other staff

• Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor consistent with school's staff handbook

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Knowledge and application of appropriate teaching strategies and methods

• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, students, parents, general public and others having business with the school

• Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications and equipment

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to pass an initial fingerprint and background clearance check

• Teacher certification with state of Missouri

• May be required to lift supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds.

• May be required to work outside normal working hours for school related programming.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $45,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience
