Position: ELA Instructional Coach, Grades 4-8 (Johnson School and Middle School)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Extensive Literacy knowledge Required!

A) A valid Connecticut Certificate as a classroom teacher or Special Educator.

B) An outstanding employment history as a highly effective teacher and a positive contributor to the school and district.

C) Reputation among staff, students, and parents as a strong, positive role model and an individual who demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability.

D) Knowledge of current educational research and instructional strategies in one or more areas of expertise.

Bethel's Instructional Coach:

• Hold the highest learning and behavioral expectations for every child.

• Employ research-based and highly-effective instructional strategies that meet students' learning needs.

• Increase teacher expertise and student performance in reading, writing, and mathematics.

• Use formative and summative student learning data to analyze students' learning needs and modify instruction to address those needs.

• Assist teachers in progress monitoring and modifying students' learning.

• Integrate technology into teaching and learning to improve student achievement.

• Embody professional excellence in all aspects of their work.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Schools or Designee.

JOB GOAL:

The Instructional Coach consults regularly with Classroom Teachers and Building Principals to raise student achievement within assigned discipline areas, such as reading, mathematics, science and Special Education. The Instructional Coach engages in extensive, on-going collaboration with teachers for the purpose of improving instruction and curriculum, and using assessment to monitor and improve student achievement.
