Overview:
Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School is seeking a dedicated and qualified English Language Development (ELD) Teacher to support English language learners in grades K-3. The ELD Teacher will provide language instruction and support to help students develop proficiency in English language skills, be enthusiastic about making a positive impact in urban communities and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Language Instruction:
Develop and implement language development lessons and activities aligned with state English Language Proficiency (ELP) standard
Provide explicit instruction in English language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing
Differentiated Instruction:
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of English language learners, including those with varying proficiency levels and academic backgrounds
Provide language support and accommodations as needed to scaffold students' learning
Content Integration:
Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate language instruction into content-area lessons and activities
Support students in accessing grade-level content and developing academic language proficiency
Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
Administer language assessments to identify students' English language proficiency levels and monitor progress over time
Use assessment data to inform instructional planning and target areas for language development
Cultural Competence:
Foster a culturally responsive learning environment that celebrates diversity and honors students' linguistic and cultural backgrounds
Incorporate multicultural literature and resources into language instruction to promote global awareness and understanding
Parent and Community Engagement:
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding students' language development progress and goals
Provide resources and support to families to help reinforce language skills at home
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, Bilingual Education, or a related field
Pennsylvania certification as a Program Specialist in English as a Second Language PK-12
Previous experience working with English language learners in a school setting preferred
Strong knowledge of language acquisition theory, English language development strategies, and culturally responsive teaching practices
Clearances: FBI fingerprints, PA state background check, child abuse history clearance, and a physical examination
