Overview:

Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School is seeking a dedicated and qualified English Language Development (ELD) Teacher to support English language learners in grades K-3. The ELD Teacher will provide language instruction and support to help students develop proficiency in English language skills, be enthusiastic about making a positive impact in urban communities and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Language Instruction:

• Develop and implement language development lessons and activities aligned with state English Language Proficiency (ELP) standard

• Provide explicit instruction in English language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing

Differentiated Instruction:

• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of English language learners, including those with varying proficiency levels and academic backgrounds

• Provide language support and accommodations as needed to scaffold students' learning

Content Integration:

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate language instruction into content-area lessons and activities

• Support students in accessing grade-level content and developing academic language proficiency

Assessment and Progress Monitoring:

• Administer language assessments to identify students' English language proficiency levels and monitor progress over time

• Use assessment data to inform instructional planning and target areas for language development

Cultural Competence:

• Foster a culturally responsive learning environment that celebrates diversity and honors students' linguistic and cultural backgrounds

• Incorporate multicultural literature and resources into language instruction to promote global awareness and understanding

Parent and Community Engagement:

• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding students' language development progress and goals

• Provide resources and support to families to help reinforce language skills at home

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, Bilingual Education, or a related field

• Pennsylvania certification as a Program Specialist in English as a Second Language PK-12

• Previous experience working with English language learners in a school setting preferred

• Strong knowledge of language acquisition theory, English language development strategies, and culturally responsive teaching practices

• Clearances: FBI fingerprints, PA state background check, child abuse history clearance, and a physical examination
