Job Description:

The Macon R-1 School District is seeking an Elementary Behavior Interventionist for the 2024-2025 school year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Missouri Teaching Certification

• Knowledgeable in behavioral management skills

• Effective communication skills

• Positive interpersonal skills

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Conducts direct observations of the student in the academic and/or other relevant environments for the purpose of data collection and/or behavioral consultation

• Assists teachers and/or other staff with data collection required to implement positive behavior initiatives and the development of behavior support plans (BSP) when needed

• Assists teachers and other classroom staff in the implementation of effective behavioral strategies

• Collaborates with school personnel to establish positive relationships and student success

• Creates behavior support plans (BSP)

• Provides training, modeling, and coaching to teachers and/or staff on the specific interventions outlined in the student's behavior support plan (BSP)

• Works directly with students to teach and reinforce replacement behaviors

• Facilitates small groups as well as individual work with students

• Assists the Behavior Intervention Team in identifying students who are at-risk or in need of academic, social/emotional, or behavioral support

• Assists parents/guardians in their efforts to refer students to outside community agencies when appropriate

• Participates in and coordinates activities which contribute to the effective operation of the school

• Pursues and conducts professional development related to this position

• Assumes other duties as assigned

Terms of Employment:

Nine month contract. Salary and work year to be established by the Superintendent.
