Job Description:

Position Title: Elementary Teacher- Grade 5 Apply Here

Qualifications:

  • Must possess or be eligible for Connecticut State Department of Education certification that covers elementary grades (5 and 6).

  • Degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in elementary education.

Compensation: In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.

Work Year: In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.

Responsibilities: The Elementary Teacher has the following responsibilities as listed below and other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned by the Building Principal and/or designee:

  • Prepare instructional resources and assessments that support the delivery of the Avon Public School's curriculum, particularly the elementary disciplines.

  • Develop and implement lesson plans, unit plans, and educational projects to ensure students' academic development.

  • Provide differentiated instructional strategies and assessment and/or modify the curriculum to meet the learning needs of students with structured learning plans (IEPs and 504s)

  • Provide support to all learners who require additional help or guidance with academic problems and concepts.

  • Other responsibilities as defined by the building principal or designee.
