Job Summary:

A competent Pre-K Teacher understands growth and development, provides a safe, stimulating and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills. The Pre-K Teacher effectively assesses student needs and progress, and plans and adjusts instruction to achieve targeted objectives in order to meet the needs of all students. In addition, the PreK Teacher meets professional responsibility for continuing growth and fosters cooperative involvement with families and the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plans and implements curriculum for children ranging from three to five years old.

• Demonstrates knowledge of child development as it relates to the teaching-learning process.

• Facilitates the independence of the student as learner.

• Effectively assesses students' needs and progress.

• Establishes a positive learning environment.

• Interacts with parents and community; maintains open and cooperative communication with parents and families, encouraging their involvement in the program and supporting the child's family relationships.

Qualifications:

• Must have valid Connecticut Certification Number: 112 or 113.

• Experience working in an inclusive preschool setting with CT Early Learning and Development Standards is preferred.

Salary Range: $49,074 to $105,646 (DOE) - Competitive Benefits package
