Dual Language Lead Interventionist
The Dual Language program at Second Hill Lane Elementary School seeks a certified teacher to support the development of foundational literacy skills and reading comprehension in Spanish and English of K-6 students. Candidate should demonstrate Spanish and English language proficiency and strong knowledge of linguistics and early literacy development in Spanish and English for emergent bilinguals. The ideal candidate possesses CT endorsements in elementary education, 902 (Bilingual Elementary Ed) with additional 102 (Remedial Reading) preferred. Candidates with only a 902 and demonstrated knowledge, skill, and proficiency in the areas described above will also be considered.
Some duties may include but are not limited to:
Essential Duties:
Lead on instructing the literacy focus in the classroom
Demonstrate strong content knowledge
Adhere to a schedule of common assessments
Schedule data analysis conversations immediately following every formative assessment
Uniformly track and display data for all students in kindergarten through 5th grade, disaggregated by teacher, student, race, and gender
Analyze performance data in order to provide targeted instruction based on students' individual academic and linguistic needs
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and the dual language program, reflect accommodations for learning style differences, and show written evidence of preparation as required
Present subject matter according to the guidelines established by the dual language program, board policies, and administrative regulations
Support academic enrichment district-wide, which may include coaching peers to build their instructional capacity
Maintains a positive learning environment that encourages open communication between teacher and learner
Participate in district staff development consisting of teacher professional development and planning/collaboration time up to an additional two hours, one day a week
Assists children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers
Other Duties:
Participates in various student and parent activities which occur in school including PTA, student clubs and after-school activities.
Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
Minimum Requirements:
Bilingual in Spanish and English including reading, writing, and speaking
Experience teaching in bilingual setting
At least one year of full-time teaching experience; working with diverse student populations, preferred
Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students
Ability to read, interpret, and apply student performance data to instructional planning and execution
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Records maintenance skills
