Position Overview:

The College Study Teacher will be responsible for building relationships with students in order to support them through the competencies needed for success in high school and beyond. This includes assisting students through goal setting, Habits of Mind, and tracking progress towards successfully completing dual enrollment college courses at CTRA.

The successful candidate will be an effective and empathetic educator who works well independently and can encourage and motivate students to perform at high levels of achievement.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

• Implement and teach the College Study curriculum to students

• Assist students and families with registration, coursework selection, CANVAS platform and all high school pathways

• Track attendance of all students in college courses

• Provide high expectations for students and strong commitment to their post secondary goals

• Support student development of habits of mind, emotional regulation, and self advocacy and agency

• Communicate and advocate on behalf of students to instructional staff

• Collaborate with Goodwin University staff monthly in order to identify success and growth areas of students

• Collaborate with student support services case managers, ML Coordinator and School Counselors in order to identify success and growth areas of students

• Identify barriers to successful completion of dual enrollment college courses

Qualifications:

• High School certification: 7-12 in any subject area.

• Bachelors degree; Masters preferred.

• Minimum of five years in high school teaching.

• Strong understanding of K-12 education system and early college initiatives

• Experience with concurrent college courses at the high school level

• Innovative and problem solving skills

• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

• Experience in a diverse, urban school setting
