Summary Cares for and treats medically fragile student in classroom, as directed by, or under the supervision of the Site Principal by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plans triage plan in the classroom, determining the most critical needs of student and the order in which they must be serviced
Train health aides and teacher in the care, treatment and feeding of medically involved students
Provide first aid
Maintain all documentation as it relates to the care and medication administration of students
Administer medications
Provide treatment such as suctioning student as needed
Assist in the lifting of students
Assist with physical and occupational therapy goals
Attend student IEP meetings
Record and report activities to Medicaid/MAC
Travel with students as necessary
Assess situations and determine when a medical emergency is deemed appropriate
Travels with medically fragile student(s) to and from school and school events as needed.
Ability to assist student(s) through medical emergencies as related to the specific condition.

Education and/or Experience
Previous experience as a school health care professional or paraprofessional desirable.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
CNA, EMT, CMA, or LPN required, RN Preferred.
Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands; the employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Terms of Employment
Rate of pay $30.00 per hr.
Full time, 8 hrs per day
Benefits as assigned for the position.

Measles/Mumps/Rubella Immunity/Vaccination
Valid I-9 form
Evaluation Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Site Principal or their designee, in accordance with Governing Board Policy.
