The Student Life Office is under the Division of Student Equity & Success. Student Life creates co-curricular opportunities for student engagement that strives to build community, promote social justice and equity, and creates spaces for the representation and inclusion of all students.

Under the direction and leadership of the Director of Student Leadership & Residential Life, the Program Manager A is responsible for providing supervision and support for the Arts & Entertainment Board, Associated Student Government, and approximately 40-50 student clubs. This position will also help in the planning and execution of large-scale campus events including New Student Orientation/Welcome, Welcome Week, Student Leadership Awards, and Commencement.

The Program Manager A is an integral part of a collaborative Student Life team that advances the College's commitment to student engagement, student success and retention, equity and inclusion, and student leadership within a diverse campus community. The Program Manager oversees a multitude of campus wide programming and directly supervises a variety of student leaders aiding them in their leadership and personal development within a dynamic office setting.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Recruit, select, train, supervise, and evaluate student employees to: develop, implement, manage, and evaluate a robust student activities program.

  • Provide supervision and support to students involved with the Associated Student Government and Arts & Entertainment Board (hourly employees), including providing guidance and direction, and managing of budgets and allocation of resources.

  • Provide support and oversight for approximately 40-50 clubs/organizations including facilitating trainings for student leaders and advisors, efficiently communicating and enforcing club-related policies & procedures, assessing/advocating for the needs of the club/organizations, their members and advisors, and assisting members with the completion of event and funding related paperwork.

  • Develop, coordinate, and execute comprehensive campus wide programming that meets the needs of and represents Shoreline's diverse student populations including resource fairs, engagement workshops, and athletic support events.

  • Provide support for department-led initiatives including New Student Orientation/Welcome, Welcome Week, Commencement, and Leadership Awards

  • Represent Student Life and Shoreline at regional/national conferences, professional and community meetings, etc. and collaborate with offices/units across campus and with external partners on programming or initiatives.

  • Manage incoming requests submissions and communication platforms including PUB digital signage system, social media accounts, and bulletin boards.

  • Ensure compliance with appropriate state and college accounting policies, procedures and regulations.

  • Serve on college-wide committees as needed/assigned.

  • Assist in coordination/facilitation of student staff and club leader training on unit policies, procedures, and processes.

  • Coordinate programs, services, and activities that support student engagement, persistence, retention, and success.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a related field or program OR
  • Equivalent experience (1) year in an educational, social services, or student leadership development setting

KNOWLEDGE OF: 

  • Microsoft Office applications such as Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word programs

  • FERPA, Title IX, and other applicable laws, rules, ordinances, and regulations related to students

  • Student development theory and practice and student advocacy

  • Relevant policies related to student activities, student clubs, and student fee use

SKILL IN: 

  • Experience and/or skills with student programs, student leadership, and leadership development

  • Experience with event management and organizing programming

  • Experience collaborating with and meeting the needs of marginalized groups

  • Contributing to diversity by fostering a climate of multicultural appreciation and awareness

  • Applying student development theories in conjunction with administrative policies/processes

  • Providing leadership, motivating staff and colleagues, and working collaboratively across job classifications, College divisions, and between agencies and organizations

  • Time management, multitasking, and coordinating work outcomes to meet deadlines while working with multiple partners

  • Preparing clear/concise materials resulting in effective oral and written communication

  • Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using sound independent judgment within College/legal guidelines

  • Writing/editing/proofreading clear and concise materials resulting in effective oral and written communication with individuals inside and/or outside of the College

  • Critical thinking, consensus building, and problem-solving skills

  • Gathering information, sorting, drafting, and providing analysis for budgetary and purchasing projects

  • Entering and/or retrieving data accurately in computerized record keeping systems

  • Establishing/maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levels

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, staff, and the public in a friendly, courteous, and helpful manner

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The College is currently providing services in a mixed modality of operations (both online and in-person services are offered).  This position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment and physically attend meetings both on and off campus, using the ability to communicate in English, both in person or through appropriate means. Ability to work in an open office setting with frequent in-person interaction and numerous interruptions, work under pressure, and handle multiple tasks/prioritize competing demands. Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen.  Please note, there may be opportunities for online work depending on program or area needs.  If authorized for online work, employees will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs.    

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:

This position is allocated to pay range 48, under the Washington State Office of Financial Management higher education salary schedule.  Salary placement for new employees is determined by the College. This position works 40 hours per week, with schedule dependent upon department needs. This position also works holidays, weekends, and evenings when appropriate or needed. Hiring of this position is contingent on available funding as determined by the College President.
