Application Procedures
Current employees should submit a letter indicating interest in the position, why you are applying for this position, and how you meet the requirements directly to the HR Department. Current employees do not need to submit the information listed below.
For external applicants, our Classified Application procedures are as follows:
1.Complete the online application.

Conditions of Employment

Washington State Law requires that any person hired by a school district must be fingerprinted for a state and a national background check. Receipt of the clearance is a requirement for employment. Are you willing to submit to a criminal history background check? The record check shall include a fingerprint check with the cost, currently $50.00, borne by the employee.
Authorize Lakewood School District to make any investigation of my personal, educational, vocational, or employment history. I further authorize any former employer, person, firm, corporation, educational or vocational institution, or government agency to provide the Lakewood School District with information they have regarding me. I hereby release and discharge the Lakewood School District and those who provide information from any and all liability as a result of furnishing, receiving, or using this information.
In the event of employment, I understand that if I provide false or misleading information, including omissions in my application or interview(s), I will be subject to dismissal at any time during my period of employment with the Lakewood School District. I will provide verification of my certification, education, and experience. Job Qualifications
Required Competencies:
High School graduate or equivalent
Valid first aid and CPR training and certificate (or will obtain upon hire)
Maintain strict confidentiality
Prior work experience within a school setting preferred
Ability to evaluate the need for and the ability to secure medical attention by trained personnel
Demonstrated ability to practice ethical and professional standards of conduct, including the
requirements of confidentiality, attendance, and punctuality
Knowledge of and commitment to upholding professional standards of conduct for school nurses or health room assistants
Able to administer medication as directed
Satisfactory health room assistant training
Ability to organize activities and work independently
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and administrators
Read, write, speak and communicate effectively
Experience or ability in emergency readiness
Experience and/or training with medications most common for school aged young people, including administration of same
Screen and treat minor student illness and injuries
Experience and/or ability to work with the health needs of disabled children
Function as a team member with staff including departmental staff meetings
Experience and/or training with student health care plans
Experience and/or training with diabetic health plans and delivery of service/care
Demonstrated sensitivity to the health needs of school age students
In district applicants must be able to report to this position within 5 days of being hired
Working Conditions:
Appropriate PPE and training will be provided by the District
The Health Room is an environment within a public school building. Required to work with a wide range of students, including handicapped children, medically involved children, etc. Some lifting may be required. Some exposure to school-aged child diseases, etc.
