ARIZONA MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (AMS)

The Classification/Compensation Analyst is responsible for Classification and Compensation analysis, research, reports and making recommendations at a professional level. The position will provide advice and counsel, evaluate positions to determine appropriate classification and salary schedule; drafts and/or revises classification specifications.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Conducting reviews of classifications titles and making recommendations for revisions; drafting and/or revising classification specifications and job families
Serving as a specialist, providing guidance and advice to employees, supervisors and managers. Participates in small and large-scale classification projects of varying complexity, provides analysis and recommendations. May participate in the development of pilot projects and client agency-led initiatives
Compiling reporting measures, research and reports and makes recommendations to management based upon data
Conducting various presentations and training related to classification/compensation issues; provides technical assistance to client agency CC staff members and other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Theories, concepts, principles and techniques of position classification
Research methods and techniques
State government and its procedure/policies
Federal and state statutes and rules related to area of assignment (i.e., FLSA, Equal Pay Act, etc.)
Rule and policy interpretation and application
Human Resources management principles and practices.
Effectively communicating to produce detailed, clear and concise audits/reports
Oral and written communication in presenting and defending recommendations
Research and analysis
Synthesizing information from a wide variety of sources and presenting information to stakeholders
Basic math and algebra.
Effectively communicate, in person or in writing; conduct research and analysis and arrive at clear and logical conclusions
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Make presentations to various stakeholder groups
Synthesize and summarize information from a variety of sources
Make basic calculations to evaluate basic compensation data.
