We encourage you to take some time to explore your career opportunities at Climax Molybdenum. This position is located at the Climax Mine site off of CO-91 between Silverthorne, CO and Leadville, CO. This is a rural, alpine area approximately two hours from the Denver metropolitan area. The mine is at an altitude of approximately 10,200 feet. In the winter, the average high temperature is 31 degrees and the average low is 3 degrees. In the summer, the average high temperature is 71 degrees and the average low is 38 degrees. The average snowfall in Lake/Chafee counties is in excess of 200 inches per year. Employee who under supervision safely performs duties related to the production and material transport for an underground mining facility. * Transports materials such as, steel, lumber, water, equipment, and blasting supplies into and out of mine via the shaft conveyance hoist materials cage * May operate mobile equipment such as: mine tractors, forklifts, water trucks, front-end loaders, fan handling trucks, pipe handling trucks, and maintenance carrier service trucks * Assists with the safe and proper loading and unloading of materials via the shaft conveyance hoist materials cage * May assist with and perform regular work area audits and note and report any issues and/or concerns * May assists in the installation of mine compressed air, water, and ventilation systems * Responsible for receiving materials from the warehouse and delivering to appropriate locations within the underground mining facility * Performs surface operations such as: unloading trucks, unloading material bins, and arranging truck deliveries * Responsible for receiving blasting materials on surface operations * Performs area housekeeping duties * Performs other duties as required Minimum Qualifications * At least 6 months in trade * Must be able to receive and maintain Explosive Possessor Certification through the BATF * Responsible for possessing knowledge of all the various levels within the underground mining facility * Required to follow the safe and proper procedures of the Underground Personal Identification system * Responsible for possessing knowledge of the following procedures: cage, explosive, and underground and surface materials Qualifications Preferred * High School Diploma or GED Criteria/ Conditions * Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English * Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards * Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment * Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toed boots, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment * Employee will be required to work in environments which may include exposure to extreme temperatures and humidity * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms * Occasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work day * Will be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation * Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by state laws Freeport-McMoRan has reviewed the jobs at its various office and operating sites and determined that many of these jobs require employees to perform essential job functions that pose a direct threat to the safety or health of the employees performing these tasks or others.
