H&E Equipment Services has an immediate opening for a CDL Class A Driver. The Class A CDL Driver is responsible for loading, securing, delivering, and unloading of heavy equipment to the customer's job site in a safe manner in compliance with local, state and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. Rental equipment will be picked up, loaded and secured for return to the branch. The Class A CDL Driver will be driving a truck and/or tractor-semi trailer (flatbed) combination vehicle over 26,001 pounds and up to 80,000 pounds.

Job Requirements:

  • Completes a pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspection of tractor, trailer and securements. Ensures the truck, trailer and securement is safe to travel before leaving the branch or customer's site.

  • Ensures the truck has all necessary paperwork for every vehicle driven daily.

  • Provides basic customer training on equipment usage as needed.

  • Ensures the truck and trailer are labeled, flagged, placarded, etc. for the load being hauled

  • Understand and apply the Hours of Service for Property Hauling drivers defined by FMCSA.

  • Able to use an Electronic Logging Device (ELD) as required by FMCSA.

  • Must have a valid Class A CDL from your residence state with valid DOT medical certificate.

  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Commercial Driver's License Information System (CDLIS) must show a valid CDL, current medical certification and self-certification status.

  • Must not have any traffic convictions defined by FMCSA that would disqualify a CDL.

This driver position would be a combination of both routes and shuttles.</p><ul><li><p>$27.00/hr; paid overtime</p></li><li><p>$5000 Sign on bonus. $2500 paid @ 90 days and $2500 paid at 180 days. Must be employed at time of each bonus to receive.</p></li><li><p>Annual pay progression; $28/hr after 1 year of service, $29/hr after 2 years of service</p></li><li><p>Average of 43 to 46 hours per week, no layovers</p></li><li><p>All trailers are equipped with power jacks, dock and lift gate deliveries</p></li><li><p>Excellent benefits, safety bonuses, meal per diems and more!</p></li></ul><p>Job Responsibilities:</p><p>The essential functions and basic duties of the CDL Driver are to perform pre and post-trip inspection of their vehicle utilizing knowledge of safe and effective loading and handling procedures. As a Delivery Driver, you are also responsible for delivering and unloading products, reviewing paperwork for completeness and accuracy, checking orders for the correct number of boxes, correcting addresses and support documentation, completing time cards, entering trip data into on-board computer, and completing paper logs if necessary.</p><p>Additional Functions Include:</p><ul><li><p>Complying with FMCSA regulations</p></li><li><p>Delivering and unloading products utilizing equipment, including tractor-trailer, ramps, lift gates, pallet jacks, load bars, and other devices which assist delivery</p></li><li><p>Operating vehicle safely within UNFI guidelines minimizing accidents, traffic violations, and complaints from the public</p></li><li><p>Reporting any accident immediately to the Transportation Manager/Department</p></li><li><p>Keeping vehicles well maintained, safe, and secure; reporting any defects promptly using DCVR form</p></li><li><p>Picking up supplies and back hauls from vendors while completing related paperwork</p></li><li><p>Addressing and resolving customer problems as appropriate</p></li><li><p>Ensuring customer orders arrive in quality condition and correspond precisely to the initial order</p></li><li><p>Communicating professionally with customers and vendors</p></li></ul><p>Job Requirements:</p><p>As a Delivery Driver, you must have a solid understanding of receiving and shipping functions and display good time management, computer, and math skills. It is also important that you have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
