Position Summary:

A Delivery Driver is responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck intrastate and/or interstate on local routes to deliver and unload various food and food related products to customers. All routes are expected to be completed safely in accordance with all Company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The driver communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring all services and duties are executed in accordance with preferred work methods and customer service practices.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Perform all required safety checks (i.e. pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspect tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed. Report all safety issues and/or repairs required.

  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies. Immediately report any and all safety hazards.

  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight. Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded. Check and complete in an accurate and in legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight.

  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule.

  • Unload products from the trailer, transport items into designated customer storage areas. Perform damage control checks on items, scanning and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy. Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures. Collect money (cash or checks) where required. Load customer returns on to trailer and secure trailer doors.

  • Ensure that tractor, trailer and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured at all times.

  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork. Unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required.

  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

VIEW JOBS 9/15/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-12-14T00:00 <p>Gulf Distributing Company of Birmingham, LLC</p><p>Position Description Delivery Driver</p><p>Reports to: Delivery Manager</p><p>Position Objective:</p><p>The Delivery Driver is responsible for the delivery, storage and merchandising of Gulf Distributing Company products in each assigned accounts. The Delivery Driver is also responsible for safe truck operation and the return of all money, unsold product, and empties.</p><p>Description of Physical Tasks:</p><p>Keep shelves and vendors clean. Place product on hand truck or dolly (approximately 20 to 50 lbs per case). Pushes/pulls hand truck to machine or shelves and loads appropriate Gulf Distributing Company product. Climbing in and out of vehicle and proper lifting techniques.</p><p>Responsibilities Include:</p><ul><li><p>Must report to work on time and clock in and out at appropriate times.</p></li><li><p>Ensure your truck is properly loaded at all times to prevent damage to the product.</p></li><li><p>Count your product load out and in each day with the warehouse personnel making sure both are accurate and complete. Sign the Load-out and Load-in sheets.</p></li><li><p>Make deliveries according to the route sequence that has been established.</p></li><li><p>When possible avoid deliveries during retailers busy times.</p></li><li><p>Ensure the product being delivered and that which is already in the account is properly rotated within the cooler, displays and backroom.</p></li><li><p>All products within the retail accounts must be merchandised according to the guidelines established by Gulf Distributing Company. This includes front facing packages.</p></li><li><p>Build, merchandise and sign displays as directed by the Salesperson(s).</p></li><li><p>Ensure that paper and permanent POS is used in each account in the proper manner and quantity.</p></li><li><p>Complete all the special attention items the Salesperson(s) or Channel Manager have communicated to you.</p></li><li><p>Complete all paperwork correctly and according to established procedures.</p></li><li><p>Collect all monies that are due for the delivery of product to the retail accounts and check them in according to established procedures.</p></li><li><p>Safely handle all empties and unsold product to prevent damage.</p></li><li><p>Attend all Safety and Drivers Meetings.</p></li><li><p>Call on your scheduled accounts and merchandise them completely including product from backstock.</p></li><li><p>Each morning prior to leaving the warehouse inspect your vehicle according to DOT regulations and adequate fluid levels.</p></li><li><p>Maintain in a current status the DOT required logs.</p></li><li><p>Obey all traffic laws when you are operating a company vehicle.</p></li><li><p>Courtesy on the road is important at all times.
