Responsibilities

Assists Clare Bridge Program Manager or Coordinator in leading and implementing a calendar of dementia friendly programs that meet specific needs of each and all residents within the dementia care community. Assists in providing person centered programs while engaging residents in meaningful and purposeful life enrichment programs within the Brookdale community enhancing their quality of life. Ensures residents are treated with respect and dignity, recognizing individual needs and encouraging independence.

Supports the implementation of a person centered program to meet individual needs and interests of the residents. Assists in leading and engaging residents in the 6 dimensions of Optimum Life purposeful, intellectual, social, spiritual, emotional and physical in a dementia friendly structured environment; including sensory focused small groups for residents who cannot participate in a large group setting. Assists the Program Manager or Coordinator in the review of individual resident's service plans and completes program documentation, as required by Brookdale standards or state requirements. Assists the program manager or coordinator in ensuring programs are in compliance with state, federal, and other regulations and meet Brookdale's mission, policies, procedures and standards Assists in providing guidance and resource to staff on the importance of programming/life enrichment and other areas regarding the quality of life for residents. Coordinates and participates in special events at the community including family socials, marketing/sales and open houses. Communicates positively with residents, families, and community professionals regarding the Brookdale dementia care program and its benefits. Communicates with families regarding residents' personal needs and successes. Assists Manager or Coordinator with meeting the department's quality improvement tool including the Brookdale Excellence Standards Tool (BEST). Supports plans and scheduled programming events outside the community, which may include driving a community motor vehicle. Assists with volunteer program, including training and supervising volunteers. Performs personal care, housekeeping and dietary responsibilities, as needed, to ensure service quality is maintained in accordance with Clare Bridge Program standards.

Qualifications

Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Associates Degree preferred. Minimum one year of previous experience with older adults and persons with dementia preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special RequirementsMust have a valid driver's license and a current 3-year driving abstract with no more than one moving violation as a condition of employment.

Management/Decision MakingMakes standard and routine decisions based on detailed guidelines with little independent judgment. Problems are generally solved with clear, detailed guidelines or by reporting them to a supervisor.

Knowledge and SkillsHas a basic level of a skill and can follow written or verbal instructions. Has basic technical skills to complete a few repetitive and well-defined duties. Has a basic knowledge of the organization in order to answer basic questions. Basic knowledge of PC's and word processing software, preferably in a Microsoft Windows environment. Effective oral and written communications skills.

Position Title Vocational Nursing Program Director Department: Academic Administration FLSA Status: Exempt Purpose of the position: Overall responsibilities: Responsible for the site supervision , development, planning, coordination, organization, implementation and evaluation of the nursing program activities; Assists the Administrative Nursing Director and Chief Academic Officer in various aspects of the overall program and implementing special projects. Job responsibilities: * Plans, develops, manages, updates and evaluates all aspects of the program * Prepares data and other written materials for all required state and Vocational Nursing Board requirements, reports, proposals, self-studies, surveys, and site visits. * Assists with identifying and obtaining outside resources for the nursing program. * Develops and implements program policies and procedures. * Organizes and serves on committees. * Oversees admission process and orientation. * Effectively serves as liaison between the community and the college. * Develops and maintains educational partnerships with clinical sites * Performs a clinical site evaluation that includes a thorough assessment on the ability of the agency to provide clinical experience that meets the objectives for application of theory and clinical course objectives. The assessment includes an analysis of risk, hazards and safety of all students, as well as ensuring adequate staffing to handle clinical objectives. * Maintains evaluations by students, clinical sites representatives, and faculty at completion of each clinical rotation and provides summary report to the Chief Executive Officer /Administrative Director of Nursing Programs, and shares same with Advisory committee. * Ensures clinical contracts are updated and maintained. * Participates in nursing faculty recruitment, hiring and orientation. * Facilitates nursing faculty meetings on a regular basis and insures adequate records and minutes of the meetings are maintained. * Assigns and schedules faculty to course and clinical sites. * Monitors quality of instruction and participates in faculty and program review, evaluation, and strategic planning. * Provides advising, support, and planning assistance to potential students. * Provides input and ensure that students are properly oriented to nursing skills lab and clinical facilities prior to initiating clinical rotations. * Participates in the planning and review process for the recruitment and admission of qualified nursing students. * Assures that all students have completed the necessary documentation and met the requirements for graduation and licensing exam. * Participates in the planning and implementation of the Nursing Advisory Committee meetings. * Participates in professional development; maintains CE hours * Maintains current knowledge of State rules and regulations as relate to the practice of Vocational Nursing. Education and Experience: * Hold a current Nevada active license as a Registered Nurse; and * Hold a baccalaureate degree from an approved school; and * Have a minimum of three years experience as a registered nurse; one year shall be in teaching or clinical supervision, or a combination thereof, in a state approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing, or psychiatric technician school within the last five years; or a minimum of three years experience in nursing administration or nursing education within the last five years; and * Have completed a course or courses offered by an approved school with instruction in administration, teaching, and curriculum development.
