Zurich is currently seeking a General Liability Claims Specialist I for our Atlanta, GA office. With moderate direction, in this role you will handle non-litigated commercial general liability (bodily injury) claims of low to moderate exposure and complexity within specific limits of authority. To ensure success, you will follow established protocols to ensure that claims are handled in the most efficient, effective way while delivering a customer-centric, quality claims experience. As part of our customer focus, we strive to build strong relationships with our internal and external contacts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims Handling or Insurance area


  • 1 or more years in the Claims Foundational Training Program


  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree with 2 or more years of experience in the Claims Handling or Insurance area


  • Juris Doctor and 1 or more years of experience in the Claims Handling or Insurance area


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims Handling or Insurance area


  • Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s)
  • Customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Commercial general liability claims handling experience

  • Experience reviewing and analyzing coverage

  • Analytical skills

  • Negotiation skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience collaborating across work groups

  • Organization skills and time management skills

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To analyze reported lower-level liability claims; use analytical, investigative and negotiation skills to resolve lower-level liability claims with accuracy and urgency and to ensure ongoing adjudication of claims within company standards and industry best practices. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES * Manages liability claims by gathering information to determine liability exposure, assigns reserves values to claims, making claims payments as necessary and settling claims up to the designated authority level. * Supports other claims representatives, examiners and leads with larger or more complex claims as necessary. * Manages assigned claims and determines compensation due pursuant to the client contract and makes timely claims payments and adjustments. * Communicates claim action/processing with claimant and client. * Ensures claim files are properly documented and claims coding is correct. * Maintains professional client relationships. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES * Performs other duties as assigned. * Supports the organization's quality program(s). #LI-TS QUALIFICATION Education & Licensing Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
