Position available in Malton, NJ.

Candidate must be available to attend classroom training from March 16th through March 27th in Memphis, TN. Travel and lodging will be provided if traveling outside of the area.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To be oriented and trained as new industry professional with the ability to analyze workers compensation, general liability or disability claims and determine benefits due.


  • Attendance and completion of designated classroom claims professional training program.

  • Performs on-the-job training activities including:

  • Adjusting lost-time workers compensation claims under close supervision. May be assigned medical only claims.

  • Adjusting low and mid-level liability and/or physical damage claims under close supervision.

  • Processing disability claims of minimal disability duration under close supervision.

  • Documenting claims files and properly coding claim activity.

  • Communicating claim action/processing with claimant and client.

  • Supporting other claims examiners and claims supervisors with larger or more complex claims as assigned.

  • Participates in rotational assignments to provide temporary support for office needs.


  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).


Education & Licensing

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience as outlined below.


No experience required with college degree. State license, self-insured certificate, WCCA/WCCP designation, or completion of the Sedgwick Claims Progression Program required without a degree. Prior claims experience preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills

  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products

  • Ability to work in a team environment

Work directly with defense counsel and third-party administrator managing litigation and claims. Position Responsibilities Supports Claims and Insurance Analyst to obtain and provide all necessary insurance certificates to system clients and outside entities. Requires reviewing applicable contracts and the insurance coverage requirements therein. Maintain Bond schedule of insurance. Maintains automobile and property insurance databases. Ensures that vehicles and properties are endorsed on the appropriate insurance policies to ensure coverage. For property coverage, this includes obtaining the square footage, content values, fit out values, and usage for the properties. In regards to automobiles, works with Virtua Purchasing Department to obtain necessary documentation for fleet vehicles and MICU vehicles. Maintains physician/allied provider database. Coordinates with Medical Affairs to assure that insurance coverage and certificates are procured for Virtua's clinical providers. Processes claims history requests for all employed clinicians. Supports the Claims and Insurance Analyst to report claims and litigation to Virtua's third party administrator (TPA). Opens all new matters in accordance with Virtua's Litigation Guidelines. Coordinates discovery and information requests for litigation and claims (predominantly but not exclusively professional and general liability) to identify the key stakeholders, witnesses and other interested parties; gathers and preserves documents. Supports the Claims and Insurance Analyst, to respond to subpoenas for non-party depositions of Virtua employees, including analyzing the subpoena, assessing potential liability for Virtua and assisting outside counsel (if assigned) with scheduling and document production. Manage and draft litigation hold notices for non-party matters. Other administrative duties as assigned Position Qualifications Required: Required Experience: * Minimum three years' experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, claims and litigation management or as a paralegal, or a combination thereof. * Detail oriented, proactive approach to work responsibilities, accuracy in work product and timely deliverables. * Excellent oral & written communication skills * Knowledge of medical terminology required * Ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels. * Experience with MS Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook. * Required Education: * Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university, relevant insurance designation or Paralegal Degree/Certification.
