How you'll make an impact

The Claims Manager & Workers Compensation Injury Counselor facilitates and directs all Workers Compensation processes for a specific Gallagher client and also handles important client reports.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Initiate contact with injured employees and explain the Workers Compensation process as it relates to the injured employee. Provide an overview of the role of the TPA in the WC process and during the claim.

  • Incorporate all claim information into WCCMs, claim management system. Accurately and completely, document conversations and maintain an accurate electronic file of communication related to the injured employee's Workers Compensation claim.

  • Assure the first report of claim is accurately and promptly referred to the appropriate TPA.

  • Work as professional liaison between the sites and claims adjuster.

  • Follow up with the treating physician after the injured employee's visit, obtain work status and medical reports on the injured employee's condition and treatment plan.

  • Remain in contact with the injured employee and obtain information on the status of the injured employee's health condition. Consult with the employee's physician, nurse case manager, and claims adjuster, to determine if the injured employee is following the treatment plan prescribed by the employee's physician.

  • Act as a liaison between the injured employee's physician, insurance company, nurse case manager, management, and employee to gain a timely return-to-work release.

  • Maintain communication with the insurance carrier; prepare status reports on critical claims for management.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines required. Must be trustworthy and can handle highly confidential information with the utmost care and discretion required.

  • Work with TPA Account Manager to produce monthly loss runs to Corporate Office and the broker. Review the loss run for data accuracy.

  • Schedule quarterly claims reviews with the TPA Account Manager and coordinate claim review date with TPA, claims broker and sites.

  • Organize and prepare documents for MO Self Insured reporting.

  • Organize and prepare documents for annual WC analysis for Milliman.

  • Review and process payment for the TPA's invoices, for administration and claim fees.

  • Follow up with TPA on legacy claims for updates, and recovery process on cases in the excess layer.

  • Assure each Providence Affiliated Facility has access to all Recommended Employee Safety and Workers Compensation Programs and they understand how to properly apply:

  • Internal Claims investigation, accurate and timely Claims Reporting, First Aid and Triage, Transportation to MPN and RTW programs.

  • Accept other assignments as needed.

About You

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience;

  • 3 years' experience in a claims role.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organization skills and ability to maintain diverse and large workload while meeting deadlines.

  • Strong knowledge and working ability to use all claims and business related software.
