The Claims Deputy serves as an integral part of fulfilling Department of Workforce Development's duty to administer the State's Unemployment Insurance program. By issuing decisions accurately and timely, this position ensures DWD will continue to receive federal grant funds to operate the State's UI program and that the State's UI program is in conformance and compliance with federal laws. Decisions issued by adjudicator have a direct financial impact on the UI Trust Fund Account.
A day in the life:
Investigating the circumstances leading to an individual's unemployment claim,
Applying laws and policies to resolve a wide variety of complicated issues on a claim
Reviewing an employer's account with regard to an individual's claim
Issuing timely and accurate determinations of eligibility
Defending determinations of eligibility at appellate hearings
Troubleshooting claim issues
