Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies is hiring Entry Level Claims Adjuster. In this position you will learn how to conduct office investigations and adjust insurance claims for General Liability products. If you have previous customer service experience and at minimum a high school diploma, then we will train you to become a claims adjuster! We are looking to fill this position in Wilkes-Barre, PA or Parsippany, NJ.

Responsibilities
When disaster or accident strikes, the Claims Adjuster is there to help determine the cost of damage. You will learn how to do the following:
The Claims Associate is responsible for conducting office investigations and adjusting commercial general liability claims. The Claims Associate is also responsible for, but not limited to:
Investigating losses and identifying coverage issues
Obtaining and reviewing evidence, reports, and medical records
Taking statements from insureds, claimants, and witnesses
Negotiate settlements with claimants and claimant's attorneys
Research state laws and medical terms
This position requires daily contact with claimants and/or their attorneys, as well as routine contact with insureds and agents
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Customer facing service experience (in-person or phone) is preferred, but not required
Previous experience adjusting liability claims is preferred, but not required
High School diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred
Must successfully pass Adjuster licensing exam upon hire (then obtain & maintain any other adjuster licenses as required.) *Company covers the cost of the exam, study materials, and provides a week for self-study to prepare for the exam
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and computer skills
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize
The ability to make decisions independently and to multitask
