Responsibilities

As a Claims Assistant, you will:

  • Review and process incoming applications for health insurance benefits.

  • Review and data entry of information into the Disability Tracking of Physicians and Patterns (DTOPP) system.

  • Take actions to maintain and update tax data and records.

  • Operate a computer-based image processing system.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for GS-05 level:

GS-05: One year of specialized experience equivalent at the GS-04 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as work experience that involved performing a wide variety of clerical and administrative office duties.

  • OR-

Four years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

  • OR-

Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-05 level. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

PASS/FAIL COURSES:

If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) was taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.

GRADUATE EDUCATION:

One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION:

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Our next Claims Assistant will be responsible for providing claim support to the department in a manner that promotes integrity and customer satisfaction. As the Claims Assistant you will also be responsible for the gathering and evaluation of documents, data input, and processing work items in a timely, cost effective manner that is compliant with state regulations and company policies. . After one year of service in this role, you are eligible (and we expect you to be ready) to move to other opportunities within the CNO Financial Operations Team, including but not limited to Claims, Underwriting, Worksite Administration, New Business and Commissions. Your Primary Duties as Our Next Claims Assistant Will Include: * Assisting with calls to providers and policyholders to request medical requirements necessary to complete claim processing. * Submitting invoices for medical records fees to be paid. * Assisting claim adjusters with pending correspondence and with updating beneficiary information in administrative systems. * Reviewing requirements received and routes to adjusters for review. * Initiating claim set up of all claims for the life and annuity lines of business.
