Claims Assistant

We are seeking a proactive, detail orientated, and organized Claims Assistant to join our team. This role will play a key role in supporting the operational success of the Claims department from a administrative standpoint. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Claims.

Responsibilities

• Draft and proofread correspondence related to handling of new Claim files and updates to existing files, including communication with: insured providers and institutional contacts, claimants, defense attorneys, claimant/plaintiff attorneys; communications include sensitive information
• Distribute correspondence received electronically within Claims department electronic filing system
• Verify accuracy of contact information and other data in claim files and for correspondence, working with claim handling staff, management, reaching out to claimants, attorneys and other involved parties
• Draft and proofread internal claim file reports
• Perform other related duties as required by position
• Provide backup for processing of medical records, as needed
• Provide backup for regulatory reporting tasks, as needed
• Provide backup support for other clerical roles and supervisor/manager as needed
• Assist in scheduling and coordinating meetings for Claims staff
• Perform other duties, as required

Requirements

• HS diploma or general education degree (GED) required, some college preffered
• 1-3 year of experience required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required
• Excellent attention to detail required
• Professional attitude and demeanor required
• Attention to deadlines and timely processing of tasks
• Ability to thrive and prioritize in an environment with many ongoing responsibilities and interruptions
• Ability to work independently, manage large workload
