Job Summary

Supervise Company's third-party administrators ("TPAs") and their handling of claims made against the Company's Property and Casualty insurance policies. This supervision includes oversight of TPAs investigation, evaluation, and resolution of construction, auto, general liability, professional liability, and first party property claims. Actively manage TPA's handling of claims with significant exposures. Engage in collaborative projects in support of other areas of the company, including underwriting, finance and accounting, actuarial, operations, and technology. Provide superior service to all customers, whether internal or external.

Job Duties

  • Efficiently manage a vigorous inventory of claims involving a broad spectrum of accounts and coverage including construction, auto, general liability, professional liability, and first party property claims. Promptly analyze coverage, review and approve TPA coverage letters, draft coverage letters as needed, and manage litigation by effectively interacting with insureds, brokers, defense counsel and other parties as required. Establish timely and appropriate reserves and regularly report claim developments and trends to claims and underwriting management. Conduct audits of TPAs and represent Company in the resolution of claims and participate in legal proceedings, including mediations, if necessary.

  • Work with other areas of the Company including underwriting, finance and accounting, actuarial, operations and technology on projects as requested. Prepare claim summaries and other reports as necessary for management.

  • Perform other functions as needed and requested.

  • · 2 years' experience handling liability insurance claims or related relevant experience. Four-year college degree is required.

  • Substantial knowledge the claims adjustment process.

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills. Some technical writing experience. Proficient with Microsoft Office products, internet research and typing.

  • Ability to accurately and timely analyze coverage and collaborate with TPAs and counsel regarding litigation strategy and claim resolution.

  • Ability to identify issues quickly that are beyond delegated authority and communicate through management in order to achieve an efficient and effective resolution of the issue.

  • Special Responsibilities

  • Work requires the ability to quickly and accurately read, comprehend, analyze and produce written materials and to use a computer for long periods of time. Limited travel may be required.

  • Effective management of TPA personnel requires the ability to influence actions without direct supervisory authority.
