Responsibilities

  • Proactively monitors and surveils claims, acting as a liaison between clients, Burns & Wilcox production teams, and carriers.

  • Facilitates claims processing between insureds, retailers, and claims examiners; reviews claim status, action plans, and reserves and facilitates communication to necessary stakeholders.

  • Reviews claims subject to dispute or delay and establishes a plan of action to achieve a fair claim resolution.

  • Provides claims guidance to Burns & Wilcox underwriters and office leaders.

  • Assists with the preparation of claims training materials and facilitates training sessions for broker/agent clients and Burns & Wilcox associates.

  • Effectively interacts with retailers and exhibits excellent customer service.

  • Actively researches and obtains claims data from carriers and consults with adjusters as appropriate while advocating for a prompt and fair outcome for clients.

  • Provides special attention for large and complex claims (typically those over $100,000).

  • Explains insurance policy clauses to clients for clarity and understanding.

  • Attends and facilitates client meetings and claim reviews virtually and in-person, as appropriate.

  • Negotiates for changes in coverage position in consideration of a fair claim outcome where strategically desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.

  • Five or more years of claims experience in an insurance company, TPA or brokerage environment

  • Claims experience in Personal, Commercial, and/or Professional lines insurance

  • Insurance designations and commitment to ongoing insurance education preferred

  • Experience managing client relationships

  • Exemplary customer service and able to work in a fast paced demanding environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment to identify and resolve problems

  • Organized, focused, with a structured system to meet deadlines

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
