Position Summary:

Investigates, evaluates, disposes and settles less complex claims with moderate supervision and includes the investigation, determination and evaluation of coverage, liability and damages and the setting of proper reserves. Incumbents at this level typically hold claims reserve and settlement authority of up to $5,000 liability and/or $10,000 workers compensation or greater.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Exercises proper judgment and decision making to analyze the claims exposure to determine the proper course of action and to appropriately settle the claim.

  • Interacts extensively with various parties involved in the claim process.

  • Handles claims consistent with clients' and corporate policies, procedures and "best practices" and also in accordance with any statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements.

  • Documents and communicates all claim activity timely and effectively and in a manner which supports the outcome of the claim file.

  • Incumbents at this level should be able to work at full case load capacity.

Required:

  • High School Diploma

  • Minimum of 3 years related claims experience required.

  • Appropriately licensed and/or certified in all states in which claims are being handled.

  • Knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices.

  • Computer experience with related claims and business software.

Desired:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1 or more years of General Liability experience.

Work Traits:

  • Ability to think critically, solve problems, plan and organize activities, serve clients, negotiate, effectively communicate verbally and in writing and embrace new challenges.

  • Analytical skill necessary to make decisions and resolve issues inherent in handling of claims.

  • Ability to successfully negotiate the settlement and disposition of claims including the ability to interpret related documentation.

U.S. Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation; any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation.

  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States. For U.S. employment opportunities, Gallagher hires U.S. citizens, permanent residents, asylees, refugees, and temporary residents. Temporary residence does not include those with non-immigrant work authorization (F, J, H or L visas), such as students in practical training status. Exceptions to these requirements will be determined based on shortage of qualified candidates with a particular skill. Gallagher will require proof of work authorization.

  • Must be willing to execute Gallagher's Employee Agreement or Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement which requires, among other things, post-employment obligations relating to non-solicitation, confidentiality and non-disclosure.

In this role, you will travel to the loss site to conduct thorough analysis. Every day is a new exciting challenge, as our Property Claims Adjusters use cutting edge homeowner's products and services to help our customers through the claims process. This is a Field Property Claims role and you will be traveling to the customers' homes. The field property claims adjuster will be traveling to insured homes within the Glendale area. In order to be successful within the role, candidates should live within this area or very close to. This position is eligible for a sign on, new hire bonus of up to $10,000 depending upon experience. In this role, you will: * Investigate and determine coverage onsite of loss and adjusts all elements of Property Loss claims of moderate-high severity. * Handle moderate- severe complexity claims assigned under little supervision. * Investigate and evaluate onsite to resolve complex coverage and damage issues to include preparing complete estimates of repair for the covered damages. * Explain coverage of loss, assists policyholders with itemization of damages, emergency repairs and additional living arrangements. * Works with and may coordinate a number of vendor services such as contractors, emergency repair, cleaning services and various replacement services. * Identify suspicious losses. Recommend referral to SIU where appropriate and may assist the SIU in their investigation and settling of the claim. * May be called upon for catastrophe duty This role might be for you if you have: * Demonstrated understanding of building construction principles. * Strong knowledge of claims handling procedures, and a full working knowledge of claims operations and procedures. * Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service experience. * Effective negotiation skills. * Ability to effectively and independently manage workload while exhibiting good judgment. * Strong written and communication skills; interpersonal skills; computer skills with the ability to work with multi-faceted systems; and analytical skills. * The capabilities, skills and knowledge required is normally acquired through Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and at least 5 years of directly related experience. * Completion of advanced property training. * Ability to obtain proper licensing as required.
