As an auto damage claims adjuster, you'll serve as Progressive's point of contact with customers - directing and making decisions regarding the repair process from beginning to end. Managing your own inventory while working independently, you'll work closely with body shops and others to negotiate repair pricing and assess liability. Ideal candidates will possess leadership and conflict management skills, along with strong attention to detail and a passion for providing excellent customer service.

This is a field position with access to a company car and frequent driving within your assigned geographical area. We assess our workload collectively, which means you may cover assignments outside your geographical area. You may also be required to report into an office occasionally.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Complete vehicle inspections, write estimates, determine total loss evaluations, and set clear expectations and timelines

  • Negotiate repair process with body shops

  • Document information related to the claim and make decisions consistent with claims standards and local laws

  • Evaluate and handle claim payments and resolution of claims without payments

  • Review and determine validity of any supplement requests

Must-have qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher and at least one year of automotive, appraisal/estimatics, or insurance experience

  • Instead of a degree, a combined total of five years post-secondary education or work experience at least one of which is in automotive, appraisal/estimatics, or insurance

  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and compliance with Progressive's driving standards and/or policies


  • $60,100 - $71,700/year

  • Gainshare bonus up to 16% of your eligible earnings based on company performance

Come join our growing team. This is a Full-Time/Exempt role.</p><p>POSITION OVERVIEW:</p><p>Outside property adjusters handle property claims requiring field investigations and/or inspections. They must establish rapport with our insureds and maintain relationships with our agents, underwriters, contractors, restoration vendors, and experts. They are expected to know their territory, including the geography; regulations and the law as pertains to property claims; state and local public safety and regulatory agencies and officials; the insurance and legal climate; and public adjusters. Outside property adjusters may use a company claims office location as their base of operations, or they may work out of their homes.</p><p>We are currently seeking outside adjusters located in the following territories:</p><p>Oklahoma City, OK</p><p>Phoenix, AZ</p><p>Bentonville, AR</p><p>Fayetteville, AR</p><p>Shreveport, LA</p><p>Nashville, TN</p><p>Memphis, TN</p><p>IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:</p><ul><li><p>Must have or secure and maintain appropriate states adjuster license(s) and continuing education credits.</p></li><li><p>Must have valid driver's license.</p></li><li><p>Handle personal property claims requiring outside field investigations and/or inspections.</p></li><li><p>May use a company claims office location as their base operations, or they may work out of their homes.</p></li><li><p>Handle business interruption (BI) features in conjunction with BI specialists.</p></li><li><p>Work within specific limits and authority on assignments of moderate technical complexity.</p></li><li><p>Possess functional knowledge and skills reflective of fully competent practitioner.</p></li><li><p>Identify possibly suspicious claims</p></li><li><p>Investigate, analyze, evaluate and negotiate personal claims of minimal to moderate complexity. May handle low complexity commercial claims.</p></li><li><p>May be responsible for all aspects of each claim, including informal hearings, arbitrations, and claims litigation and maintaining a high level of productivity, confidentiality and customer service.</p></li><li><p>Implement and coordinate the most effective management techniques to mitigate loss and expense payments.</p></li><li><p>Settlement and reserving authority levels are moderate</p></li><li><p>Required to have and maintain sufficient home-based internet connection.</p></li></ul><p>WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:</p><ul><li><p>Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.</p></li><li><p>Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers</p></li><li><p>Makes decisions in an informed, confident and timely manner</p></li><li><p>Maintains constructive working relationships despite differing perspectives</p></li><li><p>Strong organizational and time management skills</p></li><li><p>Ability to negotiate skillfully in difficult situations with both internal and external groups.
