This is an off-schedule position (Non-Bargaining) position contingent upon enrollment.

Posting Dates: 07/03/2024 - 07/26/2024 (Or until filled)

Location: Tri-Tech Skills Center

Hours: 8 hours per day (Monday-Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm); Hours during clinical components will be different to meet clinical site operations, which may be longer. Additional hours will be compensated.

Salary: $38.00 to 45.00/hr. DOE

This position will begin with 2024-2025 school year

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Pre-Nursing Instructional Assistant will assist in the planning, coordinating, and operating the Tri-Tech Pre-Nursing program. This position works under the direction of Tri-Tech Administration and the Nursing Director supporting the Pre-Nursing instructors in supervising and monitoring the skill development of the Pre-Nursing students at Tri-Tech and clinical settings.

The Tri-Tech Pre-Nursing program is designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel as competent entry-level healthcare professionals in the capacity of nursing assistants. It also lays the groundwork for their seamless transition into post-secondary education or apprenticeship training and certification.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)-Washington State Licensure.

  • One year of long-term care experience caring for the elderly, chronically ill, or both within the last three years.

  • Possess a current First Aid/ CPR Card, or eligible.

  • Positive recommendations and evaluations in past and present jobs.

  • Must provide evidence of negative TB test and series of Hepatitis B immunizations as a condition of employment.

  • Evidence of excellent attendance, punctuality, and dependability; evidence of ability to be self-disciplined and a self-starter.

  • Must be able to meet the Physical Demands of the position.

  • Must pass a Background Check.

  • Must be able to use basic computer programs to maintain records, enter timecard information, and read and respond to emails.

  • Must uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures.

  • Must take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

  • Must attend in-service training courses or other meetings as required, as well as attend any training as directed by management.

  • Evidence of ability to assess and correct issues involving safety.

  • Evidence of ability to establish and maintain a tactful, cooperative, and effective relationship with students, parents, staff, fellow employees, and management.

  • Evidence of ability to approach assigned work professionally, working toward the common goal of teamwork, pride in service delivery, and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is desired.

  • Experience working with high school-age students is preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under the direction of the Nursing Program Director, the assistant will assist with planning, coordinating, skill development, and operation of the program.

  • Know and be able to demonstrate skills specific to the requirements of a nurse assistant.

  • Monitor and assist students working on skill and theory development.

  • Assist the instructors with class and lab preparations.

  • Assist with the daily activities of the program.

  • Assist the instructors with student records.

  • Follow Tri-Tech and industry policies of confidentiality.

  • Maintain health and safety standards for the program.

  • Perform all duties of the position within the scope of Kennewick School District policies and procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Tri-Tech Director.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or individuals representing students.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimal numbers. Ability to calculate percentages, discounts, proportions, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in diagram form. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Physical Hazards: The employee will be exposed to machinery with moving parts. Noise levels may require hearing protection. Eye protection will be required. May be exposed to a wide variety of temperatures.

  • Lifting: The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds.
