CIVIL/STRUCTURAL DEPARTMENT MANAGER

Zachry Group is currently looking for a talented and self-motivated Civil/Structural Department Manager to join our Engineering Department in Corpus Christi, Texas. This is a great opportunity to get involved and lead a team of C/S engineers and designers on challenging and interesting projects for various clients within the energy & chemicals industry.
The Civil/Structural Engineering Manager will oversee the civil structural component of engineering projects and is responsible for managing and leading a team of engineers and designers. This position will be tasked with developing productive business relationships with customers and ensuring projects are completed to Zachry's standards of quality and efficiency with the objective of exceeding customers expectations.
Coordinate and confer with other disciplines to implement procedures, resolve design issues, and provide technical information
Responsible for all estimating activities within the department and provide or review estimated civil and structural quantities and costs
Responsible for assigning personnel to all jobs according to specific project requirements
Supervise civil and structural design activities on projects including quality, schedule, and budgets
Responsible for notifying employees of written department procedures and auditing compliance
Responsible for submitting and/or reviewing department budget
Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and reports
Recruit and hire, through Human Resource Department, as needed in order to meet the staffing needs of the department
Conduct employee performance review meetings
Provide department update reports to Director of Operations, as needed
Assist as needed in new business development and have a general understanding of contractual requirements
Provide technical customer service as required
Keep current in applicable design codes and standards
Lead in the teaching and training effort of all department engineers and designers
All other related duties as required
10 years minimum of engineering experience within the energy & chemicals industry; 5 years in a management / supervisory role
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university
Must be a Licensed Professional Engineer or be eligible for licensure in at least one state and be able to obtain licenses in other states as required
Small-cap project execution experience is required
Experience with High Value Engineering Center work-sharing is preferred
Mentor employees on engineering principles and problem resolution
Must have a proven record of leadership, strong communication, administrative, and organizational skills as well as be capable of working in a self-directed capacity
Must have knowledge of design techniques, tools, software, and principles involved in the interpretation and production of technical specifications, drawings, and models
Must have computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Power Point, as well as the technical ability to operate Engineering Design Software, as needed
Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry and move objects safely.
Work will be in a general office environment operating and functioning in a fast-paced work environment. Occasionally required to work in an industrial location where noise levels will be moderate to high. Job sites may contain the following: light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking. Noise levels vary and may include bells, whistles, and alarms.
