The Maven Group has been asked by our client to locate a talented Civil/Environmental Engineer to join a team located north of Richmond, VA. This position is considered Hybrid and the chosen candidate can sit in Maryland or Virginia but must be willing to travel to sites located in the Virginia and/or Maryland area.

The chosen candidate will solve problems and provide engineering and construction skills in the solid waste industry. There are two waste landfills in Virginia that this role will have oversite of. You will engage, direct, and manage professional consulting firms that perform a variety of work tasks at solid waste facilities, such as preparing permit applications and construction plans, conducting site monitoring, preparing regulatory submittals, etc. In this role you will be responsible for final work product.

What skills do you need?

  • Bachelors Degree (accredited) in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Five (5) years of related experience (in addition to education requirements).
  • In depth knowledge of environmental regulations, including solid waste, air, storm water and wastewater.
  • In depth knowledge of landfill design and permitting.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to lead environmental, engineering, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations
    Understanding of accounting processes and P&L statements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of time, including travel to remote locations.

Note: Site work may involve exposure to physical occupational risks associated with chemicals, fuels, wastewater, and construction operations such as dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes and/or similar.
