About The Position

The Engineer performs structural and civil engineering studies, designs, and project management activities for the maintenance and renovation of existing, or construction of new, facilities at the Ameren Missouri, Non-Nuclear Energy Centers with local travel required.

The position is primarily based at the Green Park Power Operations Development and Resource Center (DRC) with key responsibility for supporting the Non-Nuclear Energy Centers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the development of structural and civil engineering solutions, designs, cost and schedule estimates.

  • Perform engineering studies, design, modeling and project management for the maintenance and renovation of existing Energy Center facilities and/or the construction of new Energy Center facilities. Similar engineering activities may also be performed at other non-Energy Center facilities.

  • Develop engineering solutions, cost and schedule estimates and preliminary designs associated with initial development and budgeting of Energy Center projects.

  • Upon project authorization, perform detailed design and work with Drafting to complete drawings, prepare specifications for equipment and construction contracts, analyze proposals, finalize cost and schedule estimates, and assist or lead in the planning, construction, and coordination of projects as appropriate.

  • Interact and collaborate with various Engineering groups, vendors, contractors, architect/engineering firms, and internal customers to achieve project objectives.

  • Maintain technical skills necessary to provide structural engineering assistance and guidance to Energy Center staff.

  • Provide structural and civil engineering support functions to other projects and project teams within Power Operations Services.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Professional Structural Engineer (S.E.) License preferred. Will consider Professional Engineer (P.E.) License with strong Structural Engineering experience. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate required. Experience in the design of steel, concrete structures and foundations preferred. Five or more years of relevant experience in structural engineering design and project management in Civil Engineering work environment preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Candidate must have good analytical, communication and interpersonal skills. Candidate must also have capability to work effectively as part of a project team with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple assignments and projects. Local travel is required. Overnight travel is expected to be limited.

About The Position The Turbine Engineer is responsible for developing, planning, and executing turbine-generator projects and providing technical expertise on turbine-generator designs, inspections, repairs and/or replacements within the Ameren Missouri Fleet. Key responsibilities include: * Responsible for development of engineering solutions, cost and schedule estimates, risk assessments, maintenance, repair and replacement specifications, coordination, liaison, and administrative functions related to steam, combustion, and/or hydro turbine-generators. * Determine maintenance/replacement requirements and operational standards or limits, plan and direct maintenance outages and testing, and coordinate projects involving turbine-generator equipment and related systems. * Procure contractor services to support turbine-generator projects and oversee their work including supervision of consultants and field service engineers. * Procure and QC materials required for turbine-generator projects. * Provide engineering assistance to energy centers and other departments within the company on activities requiring experience and expertise with turbine-generator equipment, interface with industry contacts and outside corporations, including consultants, contractors, and their employees. * Monitor industry practice regarding operation and maintenance of assigned equipment and perform engineering studies to improve turbine-generator reliability, performance, efficiency, and safety. * Develop and review design alterations consistent with Design Change procedural requirements. * Optimize equipment reliability and maintenance cost through the use of predictive/analytical technologies such as PI system (Plant Information Monitoring and Data Storage System) and Analyst (Turbine Vibration Analyst). * Prepare required reports, job requisitions, work orders, and other documents; maintenance of records; and revision of drawings. Qualifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or comparable engineering discipline from an accredited college or university required. Recent graduates will be considered. Five or more years of experience in steam or combined cycle gas turbine-generator maintenance, operations and/or project management at fossil and/or nuclear power plants preferred. In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate: Background with MHC and/or EHC turbine controls, DCS logic or large rotating machinery balancing experience preferred. Some electrical systems experience desired. Ability to work a variable shift schedule that can include overtime and call-outs on nights, weekends and holidays and, at time, lengthy durations of plant support duty is required. * Technical career path level depends upon applicant's credentials.
