About The Position

The Engineer performs structural and civil engineering studies, designs, and project management activities for the maintenance and renovation of existing, or construction of new, facilities at the Ameren Missouri, Non-Nuclear Energy Centers with local travel required.

The position is primarily based at the Green Park Power Operations Development and Resource Center (DRC) with key responsibility for supporting the Non-Nuclear Energy Centers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the development of structural and civil engineering solutions, designs, cost and schedule estimates.

  • Perform engineering studies, design, modeling and project management for the maintenance and renovation of existing Energy Center facilities and/or the construction of new Energy Center facilities. Similar engineering activities may also be performed at other non-Energy Center facilities.

  • Develop engineering solutions, cost and schedule estimates and preliminary designs associated with initial development and budgeting of Energy Center projects.

  • Upon project authorization, perform detailed design and work with Drafting to complete drawings, prepare specifications for equipment and construction contracts, analyze proposals, finalize cost and schedule estimates, and assist or lead in the planning, construction, and coordination of projects as appropriate.

  • Interact and collaborate with various Engineering groups, vendors, contractors, architect/engineering firms, and internal customers to achieve project objectives.

  • Maintain technical skills necessary to provide structural engineering assistance and guidance to Energy Center staff.

  • Provide structural and civil engineering support functions to other projects and project teams within Power Operations Services.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Professional Structural Engineer (S.E.) License preferred. Will consider Professional Engineer (P.E.) License with strong Structural Engineering experience. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate required. Experience in the design of steel, concrete structures and foundations preferred. Five or more years of relevant experience in structural engineering design and project management in Civil Engineering work environment preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Candidate must have good analytical, communication and interpersonal skills. Candidate must also have capability to work effectively as part of a project team with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple assignments and projects. Local travel is required. Overnight travel is expected to be limited.

About The Position The Manager, Dam Safety & Hydro Licensing is responsible for ensuring that the Dam Safety Programs, hydro licenses and engineering projects are fully implemented and ensuring that high standards are maintained for dam safety and regulatory compliance at all Ameren generating facilities. Key responsibilities include: * Lead a team of engineers and outside consultants in the on-going licensing efforts necessary to keep Ameren's regulated hydroelectric and dam facilities in compliance with current license requirements and regulations. Provide coaching, feedback, and development as needed for assigned staff. * Responsible for the implementation of dam safety projects, hydro engineering projects, programs, training, inspections, hydro licenses and regulatory compliance. * Ensure long-term availability of assets at Ameren generating facilities by identifying risks and abnormal operations. Ensure conservative procedures are in place to maintain large assets and effectively manage risk. * Produce a budget that ensures generating facilities have reliable, safe performance while maintaining fiscal prudence. * Responsible for the creation, implementation and regular monitoring of Dam Safety Programs for Ameren Missouri Energy Centers. * Ensure Operation Plans, Maintenance Plans, Emergency Action Plans, and Inspection Plans are developed and coordinated with the applicable agencies. * Ensures dam safety inspections are performed in accordance with establish surveillance plans and responsible for implementing dam safety engineering projects, hydro engineering projects, programs, training, inspections, hydro licenses and regulatory compliance.. * Ensure dam safety and regulatory compliance commitments are identified and met. * Develop an annual report with the Chief Dam Safety Engineer on dam safety issues, audit findings, and ongoing improvement plans to present to the Nuclear and Operations Committee of the Ameren Board of Directors. * Responsible for the development and implementation of the dam safety training program for dam safety and plant operations personnel. * Train and develop staff concerning standards, procedures and methods to be used to carry out their duties and responsibilities. * Maintain effective communication with generating stations, other company departments, and other stakeholders. * Coordinate the performance of internal and external assessments and audits on the Dam Safety Programs. * Develop engineering studies, facility reviews, and environmental assessments to support requirements of Federal and State licensing or regulatory compliance statutes. Qualifications Bachelors of Science in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University required. Must be a licensed professional engineer and have 7 years or more of relevant work experience in design and project management in dam safety, civil or mechanical engineering. An understanding of utility business operations is preferred. Five or more years of supervisory or high-level team/project leadership is required. In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate: Proven analytical skills, able to make sound decisions with ambiguous information and analyze complex data. Creative self-starter with strong interpersonal skills – able to work effectively as a team and with various stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
