We have an opening for a Civil Engineering Intern in our Indianapolis, Indiana office. Are you ready to advance your education and have the opportunity to work on urban design and construction projects, as well as be mentored by Subject Matter Experts?
In this role, under direction of a degreed engineer, you will perform a variety of engineering design tasks in the areas of road, highway, pavement and traffic design. When working at this level, you will typically be supporting other engineers on projects, taking engineering notes, assisting with writing specifications, developing rough sketches, etc., and formalizing them into working drawings. Our goal is to help you develop a strong understanding of the design process, the procedures and steps involved in design, and develop your practical knowledge of heavy infrastructure design.
Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings consisting of basic arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, etc., from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
Support geometric design engineering of road & highway projects and related engineering.
Utilizes technical manuals and directives to ensure compliance with codes and company policies. Becomes familiar with various standards and codes such as AASHTO,ANSI, PFI, and ASME.
Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Must be enrolled in a Civil Engineering Degree curriculum at an accredited college or university and have completed at least two years of studies
Strongly prefer candidates at the Junior, Senior, or Graduate level
Course work experience related to Civil Engineering projects is essential
Interest in working in heavy infrastructure design is required
Literate in PC software, a working knowledge of CAD, and other computer software used to complete design assignments.
