VNS Federal Services is currently seeking a full-time Civil Engineer to work in our Richland, Washington office.

The Civil Engineer's primary focus is civil structural, but can also perform civil site/facility and construction management tasks, such as, grading, water and sewer lines, and temporary roads. The Engineer will be providing design engineering and construction management support for (1) building decontamination and demolition (D&D), (2) large equipment stands builds, (3) electronic packaging builds, (4) temporary building erection (i.e. mobile trailers) and hazardous waste transport (49CFR 393). The Civil Engineer will take a project from the design stage to the final construction and is responsible for performing quality calculations, writing reports, test plans and specifications.
The main focus for the Civil Engineer is civil structural, but can also perform civil site/facility and construction management tasks. Specific responsibilities include:
Develops and applies broad knowledge of principles and practices in the civil engineering area;
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features;
Collaboratively uses judgment to determine adaptations in methods for non-routine aspects or assignments;
Works on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects;
Uphold the Select Core Values: Integrity, Honesty, Teamwork, and Quality
Preparing and writing reports, test plans, and specifications;
Produce and maintain standards/best practice documents and related process documentation;
Perform quality calculations
Education, training, experience:
A bachelor's degree is required
Well-developed skills in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and Outlook
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to work in a team environment and dialogue between engineering disciplines to resolve problems
A minimum of 5-15 years professional experience as a Civil Engineer
Knowledge of CAD and FEA is desired, but not a requirement
Knowledge of industry codes
Knowledge of Mathcad
