Civil Engineer IV (Sr-24) [6 Vacancies]

Position Information

Performs difficult professional engineering work in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of civil engineering projects; prepares designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports; and performs other duties as required.

There are multiple vacancies in various departments in the City and County of Honolulu:

• Two vacancies with the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, one with the Capital Projects Division, Construction Branch, and one with the Field Operations - Technical and Operational Support Branch.

• Three vacancies in the

Department of Environmental Services, two with the

Collection System Maintenance Divisionwith telecommuting and alternate schedule opportunities available, and one with the Wastewater Engineering & Construction Division.

• One vacancy in the

Department of Transportation Services,Transportation Rail Division.

• Salary commensurate with applicable experience: $6,675 to $8,130 per month (SR-24) salary includes shortage differential, pending approval.*
• Effective July 1, 2024 the new salary for Civil Engineer IV (EN-24) will be $7,172 to $10,210 per month, pending approval.*

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty.

Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

Three years of non-registered professional civil engineering experience.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:

1.Possession of avalid license as a professional civil engineer in the State of Hawaii.

Applicants with a current out-of-state professional civil engineer license must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment.
