Responsibilities

Under the direction of a seasoned PM, receives specific and detailed instructions for required tasks and results expected. Creates drawings and makes basic calculations on assigned portions of multiple projects. Performs basic engineering calculations and uses AutoCAD to begin to apply engineering education to practical design solutions.

Qualifications

BS Civil Engineering and FE exam passed in OH. Preference is for multiple internships or co-op experiences in civil, construction, or a related area.

Preference is for exposure to engineering consulting firm environment. If a recent graduate, must have some exposure to AutoCAD or similar software to develop work plans and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Engineer Associate (entry level) Engineer (intermediate level) POSITION SUMMARY: (Job posting is written as entry level Engineer Associate, expectations are increased with higher grade level). Within the distribution Standards group, this position will develop standards involving support structures, foundations, and materials; provide experitise on static and dynamic loading of structures and assessment of new materials; and consult with Distribution Engineering Best Practices and other groups in support of the operating companies on structural design of distribution lines. Technical Expertise: Possesses entry-level knowledge and experience in the application of theory to solve well-defined problems or provide analysis, with guidance from higher-level engineers. Assists higher-level engineers in handling well-defined portions of more complex problems and analyses. Exhibits fundamental understanding of standards, codes and regulations relevant to the area of assignment. Gains familiarity with standards, codes and regulations relevant to the area of assignment. Gains familiarity with pertinent equipment, materials, systems and business processes. Leadership & Guidance: Coordinates work activities of others as required to resolve routine engineering tasks. Demonstrates working knowledge of appropriate policies and procedures; however, activities are generally monitored by higher-level employees to ensure work is performed in accordance with established guidelines. Performs work activities as assigned and coached by higher-level employees. Demonstrates ability to work with others in both supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary. Planning & Organization Ability: Provides input to routine project planning documents related to scheduling and understands the use of scheduling techniques (CPM, PERT, flow charts, etc.) for budget and planning activities. Monitors project status and recommends action accordingly. Prepares cost estimates using established standards. Develops understanding of the workflow for routine engineering projects. Accomplishes work according to plans and schedules established by higher-level employees.
