Stantec's Water practice has an immediate opportunity for 4 Civil EIT's with experience or an interest in Water Resources. These positions can be based out of Lexington, Louisville or Chattanooga.

Your Opportunity

The role of a Water Resources EIT is to work on projects as a team member under the close supervision of a senior engineer/designer. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations and field work. You will assist senior team members by performing the routine aspects of engineering assignments and assist in the analysis of proposed projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Uses knowledge of water resources general concepts of relevant engineering elements including the analysis and design of water supply, distribution and treatment systems, sewerage networks, and wastewater treatment systems.

  • Assists team in preparing drawings, presentations and reports.

  • Conducts basic calculations and performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned and under the supervision of a project engineer.

  • May perform field work related to pilot and/or construction related activities.

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of water and wastewater engineering design.

  • Basic understanding of HEC-HMS and/or HEC-RAS software preferred.

  • Basic understanding of ESRI GIS mapping software preferred.

  • Basic understanding of 2D Platform (e.g., Autodesk, 2D Bentley) preferred and other relevant design software and knowledge of calculations performed by the software.

  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite and Adobe.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Requires flexibility and a "can do" attitude.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.

EIT or scheduled to take the exam within one year of degree completion.

Minimum of 0-2 years of experience.

Co-op/Internship experience preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Your Opportunity An opportunity exists within Stantec's Water Sector for an experienced Water Resources Engineer. The position will be based out of Louisville, KY. Responsibilities: * Perform Hydrologic and Hydraulic analyses using unsteady state and 2D models. * Perform watershed feasibility studies and conceptual designs to provide water quality, flood reduction, and ecological benefits in a watershed. * Perform GIS analyses to support engineering and technical services. * Provide support to a diverse team of professionals in multiple offices throughout the country. * Write documents summarizing work performed. * Conduct assignments/projects with a high degree of initiative and independence. * Complete tasks on schedule with pride and ownership of your work. * Provide expertise to internal and external clients to resolve complex problems and issues. * Attend project meetings involving communication to local government officials. * Deploy to natural disaster impacted areas if desired. * Mentor and oversee the work of a team of young engineers * Manage project budgets and schedules * Contribute to project proposals and scoping * Provide analysis of options for, and participate in the design of, wastewater treatment processes Your Capabilities and Credentials * Five plus (5 ) years experience in the analysis/design of water resources projects, including: hydrologic/hydraulic modeling (SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, etc.). * Experience with FEMA guidelines and standards, map update process, and / or permitting a plus. * Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Civil 3D, InfoWater, InfoSWMM, WaterCAD, InfoWorks ICM, or equivalent softwares. * Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills * Desired Computer skills: Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling tools and ArcView/GIS * OSHA training a plus * Must have valid driver's license Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering. Masters Preferred. Licensed Professional Engineer. Minimum of 5-6 years of experience. Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time.
