Duties include preparing designs, contracts and drawings for: water, wastewater, roadway paving and drainage projects; performing technical tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility; assisting in site investigations; managing the construction phase of capital improvement projects; and conducting pre-bid meetings to provide answers about construction sequencing, working day assessments, construction safety and allowable construction materials. Duties also include providing primary assistance and oversight to engineering technicians and city surveyors on technical software; training and directing employees in research, drafting and design; and answering questions and providing information to the public, City departments, contractors and other agencies.

Duties will encompass regular interaction with the other City departments and outside agencies. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required for either position. To be hired at the Graduate Engineer position (EN21), candidate must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination and have, or obtain within six months, Texas Engineer in Training (EIT) certification (working under the direction of a professional licensed engineer and senior staff). To be hired at, or advance to, the Civil Engineer position (EN25) three years civil engineering or related experience is required, and candidate must have a Texas Professional Engineer's license or a Professional Engineers license from another state with reciprocity.

Technical experience with software including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD Civil3D is preferred.  Must also have a Texas Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe) and a valid Texas Driver's License. A résumé must be submitted with application.

PAY GRADE EN21 / FULL PAY RANGE $5,620 - $7,924 PER MONTH ($67,440 - $95,088 ANNUALLY) OR PAY GRADE EN25 / FULL PAY RANGE $6,832 - $9,630 PER MONTH ($81,984 - $115,560 ANNUALLY)
