Reports to: Engineering Manager Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities; however Project Engineers are expected to mentor Engineering Technicians. Experienced Project Engineers may supervise entry level Engineering Technicians as requested by Project Manager.
Purpose:
Assists with high level engineering tasks and project coordination.
Function:
A Project Engineer is an integral part of a design team that functions as a mentor to younger engineers and is also capable of independently preparing calculations, permit applications, and engineering plans as requested by the Project Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures corporate quality procedures and standards are followed.
Provides technical direction to and mentors less experienced engineers.
Perform project functions related to the production of civil engineering plans.
Meets client quality, schedule, and budget expectation.
Perform technical report writing.
Research and analyze maps, blueprints, photos and charts.
Gather information and prepare reports on projects.
Develop erosion and sediment control and stormwater management design plans.
Perform erosion and sediment control and stormwater management design calculations.
Without guidance, prepare engineering plans, application forms, and other necessary documents required for local, state, and federal permits.
Perform quantity take-offs for projects.
Participate in field visits and client meetings as required.
Accurately completes daily time report.
Attend industry training events as requested by senior management.
Compile and submit permit packages to state agencies.
Work under the supervision of the Engineering Lead or Project Manager.
Other tasks requested by Project Manager or Client Service Manager.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions:
Frequently required to walk over various terrains, long or short distances and through seasonal weather conditions.
Frequently required to sit.
Continually required to talk or listen.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
B.S. in civil engineering or similar field from an accredited university. Applicable industry experience may be substituted at the discretion of senior management.
3+ years of civil site engineering experience.
Candidate should be proficient with utilizing design software, such as AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Plan and construction documents preparation (engineering analysis, plans, reports, specifications and cost estimate).
Demonstrated experience with grading and drainage.
Proficient with stormwater management/best management practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsible for the effective management of own time and effort, in accordance with project priorities and objectives.
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and oversee work of less experienced engineers.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills.
Committed to working efficiently to complete tasks within budget and schedule constraints.
Valid driver's license.
Preferred Requirements:
Experience with PA, OH, and WV permitting requirements
