Position Summary

Our team is experiencing exciting growth within our established practice therefore we have a need for a designer/drafter to assist on several of our civil engineering projects.

  • Entry level personnel in routine engineering/design work assigned by the design supervisor or project engineer

  • Perform basic engineering work

  • Performs administrative tasks

  • Performs basic/less than complex project design

  • Works closely with project engineers/level two and three designers to develop design drawings for projects

  • Attends project design reviews

  • Organizes, plans, and executes project drawings

  • Initiates/communicates work with other disciplines

  • Takes assignments/reports to the lead (level two or three) designers

  • Sketches rough layouts and computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages and location of holes

  • Uses computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs

  • Relies on instructions and pre-establish guidelines to perform functions of the job

  • Previous quality checking experience

  • Directs other personnel in routine engineering/design work as they assigned by level 3 designer or Project Manager

  • Makes project technical decisions in coordination with design supervisor or Project Manager

  • Performs technical assistance as required

  • Performs more complex project design and design drafting

  • Assists Design Supervisor and Project Manager on proposals as directed

  • Leads project design reviews

  • Organizes and plans project drawings

  • Coordinates work with other disciplines

  • May take lead on assigned design projects

  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and customer contract requirements and related specifications

  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems

  • Uses computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop design

  • Designs new projects and makes improvements to existing products

  • May evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability

  • Other job functions as assigned


  • 4-8 years of design experience or equivalent

  • Advanced knowledge of design and visualization software such as AutoCad

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

  • Working experience with design software engineering discipline specific

  • Must be able to complete assigned projects on time and within budgets

  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously

  • Degree in related field or equivalent experience

  • Previous quality checking experience
