The primary purpose of this position is to prepare draft detailed dimensional drawings for projects and ensure conformance to specifications/customer requirements.
Associates or technology degree desired in such disciplines as engineering technology, etc. plus 5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Organize and interpret survey and engineering data to prepare clear and concise design drawings such as site plans, grading and drainage plans etc. using Autodesk Civil 3D
Conduct site evaluation using existing company technologies independently
Assist in the assembly of drawing packages and production of drawing sets that will be submitted to customer, contractor or field crews and insert instructions and comments into drawings.
Design and draft laydown sites for the storage of wind turbine components using AutoCAD and perform site analysis using AutoTurn
Create, edit, or import data into the Enterprise GIS and related databases using ArcGIS
Prepare clear and concise engineering reports, technical documentation and presentations. Communicate with appropriate parties as needed verbally or by written means.
Recognize and implement improved processes and best practices
Designs are balancing design objectives such as cost, weight, size, complexity, and versatility.
Knowledge of materials and governing specifications for those materials.
Show the ability to manage tasks for assignments.
Learn about industry requirements (AAR, AREMA, AASHTO, DOT, ASTM AWS D15), equipment and the freight car industry.
Stay updated on industry news and trends, products, services, competitor and information relevant to the industry.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
