Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Civil Coordinator with extensive experience in heavy structural concrete, shoring and scaffolding in an industrial setting.

The position is responsible for ensuring that all civil work on the project is successfully executed and completed to high quality and safety standards.

As the successful candidate, you should have experience in EPC organizations working in the petrochemical industry on major projects and able to work as a client advisor.

  • Ensure that Wood and client safety, health, and environment (HSE) programs are implemented and adhered to at all times

  • Act as technical advisor

  • Provide technical solutions and identifying solutions to project requirements

  • Coordinate the execution of civil design works by other affiliates to ensure compliance with project specifications and supervising production of civil and structural deliverables within time and budget

  • Check and comment deliverables for civil discipline

  • Check of drawings / models in accordance with Work Practices, standards and client standards

  • Receive engineering design information and instructions from Senior or Principal Civil Designer as applicable

  • Ensure that efficient and effective communications are maintained among the several offices involved, ensuring that all reporting requirements are met

  • Ensure that the operating center produces final civil deliverable drawings i.e. earthworks, piling, foundations, superstructures, underground services, paving and buildings inclusive of reinforcement detailing and reinforcement bending schedules where applicable. Drawings to be produced utilizing design sketches as provided by H.O. Civil Lead, if necessary, and extracted views from the 3D model. All drawings to be produced in accordance with client, corporate and national standards, specifications and procedures as applicable

  • Ensure that the operating center produces final structural deliverable drawings i.e. pipe racks and pipe support steelwork, equipment support and access structures, vertical vessel circular access platforms and buildings. Drawings to be produced utilizing design sketches as provided by H.O. Civil Lead, if necessary, and extracted views from the 3D model. All drawings to be produced in accordance with client, corporate and national standards, specifications and procedures as applicable

  • Participate on Model Reviews as and when required

  • Establish strong rapport between all parties involved in project work and successfully manage the civil team and interfaces with other engineering disciplines

Skills / Qualifications

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the engineering & construction industry

  • Extensive experience in heavy structural concrete, shoring and scaffolding in an industrial setting

  • Previous experience in a civil / structural engineering environment

  • Experience in EPC organizations in the refinery and petrochemical industries on major projects

  • Proven experience as Civil Coordinator, capable of leading a team of engineers and designers

  • Experience in discipline coordination / supervisory roles, preferably in civil projects

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications

  • Excellent knowledge of international standards and specifications

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work in a team environment
