With over 500 acres of parks and 67 miles of trails, we need your help to maintain and increase our capacity! AmeriCorps members will serve with the City of West Lafayette to improve green spaces and capacity by creating equitable recreation spaces for all community members.

AmeriCorps members will build positive relationships with neighborhoods and park patrons to deepen the fabric of our community. We are dedicated to growing and protecting our urban forest. The City of West Lafayette has been recognized as a Tree City USA since 1991, for over 32 years!

We build impactful growth opportunities for members in the form of workshops, personal and professional development, team building, exposure to green industries, and an overnight member retreat. Member Duties : Seeking AmeriCorps members interested in park conservation efforts as a Nature Camp Counselor. Cultivate community-based conservation through a nature-based summer camp.

Discover, develop, and use knowledge to strengthen the social, economic and environmental well-being of people through exposure to environmental literacy. The Nature Camp Counselor Member position is responsible for leading and implementing programs and experiences for children attending the nature-based learning camp. Members are responsible for the general safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in their group.

This position leads, teaches, and conducts a diversified recreation program including organized lessons, hikes, games, and arts and craft projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in growing skills in leadership, conservation, childcare, and the outdoors. Members can access free training, hands-on skill development, and experience a municipality.
