Keuka College is currently seeking a Circulation Supervisor and Technical Services Assistant. This is a Full Time 12-month position. This Circulation Supervisor and Technical Services Assistant will report to the Library Director and under his/her supervision is responsible for circulation desk operations that include the supervision of 20+ student workers and provision of direct service to Keuka College students and faculty at the circulation desk. This position will also be responsible for opening the library daily, processing Interlibrary Loan requests, overseeing daily activities associated with Lightner Library acquisitions, performing secretarial duties, as needed, and completing other projects as assigned by the Library Director.
Essential Responsibilities:
Circulation desk
Hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates 20+ student workers
Uses and administers the library's online circulation system (Polaris)o Supervises shelving and stack maintenance
Opens the library weekdays
Interlibrary Loan
Processes lending and borrowing requests
Sends, receives and logs materials borrowed from and lent to other lenders on ILLiad
Communicates with other libraries, as needed
Maintains accurate ILL records
Acquisitions
Orders books, library materials, and library supplies
Prepares and processes annual journal renewals
Tracks orders to ensure materials are properly received, processed, and claimed
Acts as liaison with vendors
Library budget
Processes purchases orders for all materials
Processes all invoices for payment
Tracks payments and deposits and generates montly reports reflecting acquisitions expenditures
Establishes individual acquisitions fund accounts in the Library Management System to ensure that purchases are encumbered and expended in the system and adjusts fund balances as needed
Deposits funds for library and Friends of Lightner Library accounts
Other responsibilities
Types correspondence and bills and keeps track of associated paperwork
Processes and distributes mail
Prepares book plates for gift books
Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
Physical Requirements:
Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
Occasional nights and weekends may be required
Requirements
Bachelor's degree and minimum of two years of directly related experience in a detail-oriented position or in a library or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered as a substitution for the required education and experience listed above
Basic bookkeeping skills preferred with attention to detail and accuracy essential
Supervisory experience
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Understands and behaves with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
Ability to be sensitive to and respond to the needs and concerns of all constituents of the College including but not limited to students, faculty, college staff and the public.
Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
