Serve as primary underwriter delivering corporate products and services to clients in the Corporate and Investment Banking Division, overseeing all loan originations and monitoring the existing loan portfolio. Responsible for participation in corporate client sales calls, conducting call preparation, following through and responding to client needs, participating in client presentations and researching and qualifying prospects.

Monitors the documentation and sales support process and provides technical assistance and coaching to Portfolio Management Analysts and Associates responsible for originating, underwriting, closing and servicing corporate loans. Serve as secondary point of contact for clients with the Relationship Manager for all credit-related matters. Acts as an expert and mentor to Analysts and Associates in the group.

Provides monitoring and industry/market research for complex industries and portfolios. Perform sales support and client service, as needed, to maintain responsiveness to the client.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

1.Serve as senior underwriter to ensure team is consistently evaluating all credit requests and considering all risk factors. May supervise a team of Portfolio Management Analysts and Associates providing support to assigned Corporate Bankers through underwriting and processing loan requests. Work closely with Corporate Bankers on all credit requests and appropriately engage Credit Risk Management in the credit process in order to properly position Truist's ability to manage credit exposure to further relationship development.

2.Proactively monitor an assigned loan portfolio of at least $1 billion in corporate credit commitments, including forward-looking indicators such as commodity price changes or other major drivers that would impact the risk profile of the portfolio.

3.Work with Corporate Bankers to position Truist to win new business based on solid understanding of the client's profile and unique situation. Interface with the client as a secondary contact, specifically for credit-related inquiries.

4.Manage credit risks through thorough underwriting, policy compliance and risk assessments on credit request packages to be submitted for co-approval or approved by Corporate Bankers. Work with Portfolio Management Analysts/Associates and CRM to ensure packages are complete, accurate and thoroughly documented.

5.Exercise in-depth knowledge in assigned industry coverage or assigned markets. Serve as a credit expert to other bankers, reviewing transactions in respective industry or market and make recommendations regarding structure and risk factors. Provide research and metrics to bankers to keep them apprised of trends, risk factors and opportunities in the market.

6.Manage complex client servicing related to loans with the Portfolio Analysts and Portfolio Managers.

7.Work with Portfolio Analysts/Portfolio Managers to ensure packages are complete, accurate, timely and thoroughly documented. Assist Analysts in developing credit underwriting skills.

8.For assigned regions and industries, assist the Community Bank in underwriting, structuring, negotiating and closing large credit transactions for corporate and large middle market companies.

9.Facilitate consistent, effective communication between Corporate Bankers, Portfolio Management Analysts/Associates, CRM, Syndications or other specialized credit partners to provide superior client service and risk management. Participate in sales meeting, credit prescreens and loan reviews.



  1. Ensure excellent data integrity by monitoring, maintaining, and updating sales activity, pipeline and other pertinent information using Bank's contact management system and other processes.

  2. Attend product knowledge training classes to develop deep understanding of corporate products and services.

  3. Keep abreast of changing business and economic developments which impact the loan portfolio, profitability and banking in general.


Required Skills and Competencies:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1.Master's degree in a business-related field or equivalent education and related training

2.Seven years of commercial lending experience

3.Five years of corporate/syndicated lending experience in a specific industry or market

4.Experience in underwriting, structuring and closing direct and syndicated loan transactions (e.g. $50MM to $500MM+)

5.Strong verbal, written, analytical and communication skills

6.Supervisory or mentoring experience

7.High degree of quantitative analysis skills

8.Strong understanding of financial and cost accounting principles

9.Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products



  1. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight

Desired Skills:

1.Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

2.Experience managing corporate credit and deposit relationships

3.Experience in working with correspondent banks

4.Experience in bank operations as it relates to corporate services
