The Technical Operations team work alongside/for projects to provide expert level support across the broad spectrum of 'DevOps'. Activities can vary from creating a new development network, to architecting and implementing a new build, test and release pipeline. Automation is at the heart of everything we do, whenever there is a task that needs to be performed more than once, it gets automated as a priority.

The core technology stack that the team works with is: RHEL based linux, Docker, Jenkins, Git, Atlassian Suite, Nexus, Yum, Python, Bash, Virtual and Physical systems.

The aim of the team is to provide a centralised point within the business for all DevOps skills and allow projects to benefit from a knowledge pool instead of silos of information distributed across the business. The team particularly focuses on the 'build' end of the pipeline by providing Continuous Integration expertise, guidance and implementation to allow projects to be delivered smoothly and to a high standard.

Typical day-to-day activities include:

  • Secondment to projects for DevOps assistance including:

  • Interactions can vary between a few meetings to assignment for several months

  • Designing & implementing build pipelines

  • Configuration of Continuous Integration systems (Jenkins)

  • Developing deployment strategies for projects/products

  • Support/Maintenance of build & development networks

  • Working on centralised tools that can be used across the business

  • Evaluation of new platforms & technologies Cloud platforms, Orchestration (Kubernetes), Monitoring

They will be responsible for creation and maintenance of knowledge base, working with support teams, vendors and product leads. They will also look at improvement opportunities and new ideas to improve knowledge base content and design, to ensure on par user experience with industry trends and practices. Knowledge * Gather, review and identify relevant information needed for knowledge * Create, publish, own and maintain technical support & customer facing documentation in cooperation with all levels of service for products * Create, publish, own and maintain the Knowledge Base used by GDPS support teams and users as per specifically assigned product needs. * Globally monitor gaps and retirement of knowledge that may impact service and create new relevant knowledge. Collaboration * Collaborate and provide technical insight to Ready to Support Team and timely responses to verbal feedback left in flagged Knowledge while sharing best practices. * Collaborate with the Ready to Support Team to create and maintain the customer facing self-help documentation to reduce the number of customer support questions. * Collaborate with related product owners to maintain related product knowledge, support tool knowledge updates and procedures. * Collaborate with the product lead to identify knowledge gaps and monitor retirement of knowledge that may impact service. Training and Onboarding * Help create & maintain onboarding curriculums & materials dedicated to assigned product support for front-end resolvers and secondary support. * Maintain & deliver ongoing training opportunities for the Service desk and L2 support teams. Communication * Communicate knowledge related publications to core and cooperating teams. * Communicate service changes, product updates and new implementations to core and cooperating teams. * organizational, interpersonal and written communication skills are a must * Ability to successfully interact with all levels of the organization. * Excellent English skills (written & spoken), with
